Can't agree with this. Socrates describes a voice that he can hear that stops him mid-speech, and it's a voice he reports to be prescient. He was hearing a voice in his head, as many people do. I think it's wrong to reduce what is reported in the texts as a voice to the trite modern notion of "conscience". Socrates mentions having thoughts akin to conscience prior to hearing the voice of daimonion, so the two cannot be conflated. The idea of bad or evil is treated here in a mannichean way - people actively "ignoringing" their conscience and knowingly being bad when they could infact be "good". In fact Socrates thought "evil" was ignorence, and everybody is actually innocent in Socratic ethics, and the good - wisdom - is innate and retrievable. It's a completely different (and alien to our world) understanding of subjectivity and agency.
